The municipality of Alà dei Sardi is located in northcentral Sardinia, specifically in the historic region of Monte Acuto, on the border with Barbagia and Baronia. It is included in the new province of Olbia-Tempio. It is also part of the Tepilora, Rio Posada, and Montalbo biosphere reserve, recognised by UNESCO. The residential area lies at the foot of the Monti di Alà mountain chain, at a little less than 700 metres above sea level. The typically rural economy includes some fastgrowing crafts, such as cork manufacturing and carving, field stone cladding, and granite manufacturing and carving for buildings.
