OPEN-AIR MUSEUM OF THE “STAZZI” CIVILISATION AND MINERALOGICAL MUSEUM

The welcoming centre of Bortigiadas is studied in detail, and the various dwellings reflect the personality and daily life of their residents. The open-air museum features pictures of the terracotta statues by Pinuccio Sciola, portraying about 20 men and women. They are currently displayed on the ground floor of the mineralogical museum, which offers an overview of Gallura’s minerals.
The statues are photographed both in groups and individually: stocky, rough, and depicting people exhausted by life and work, they are extraordinarily beautiful and expressive. There are very many of them: with their intensity, they tell the story of almost unknown people, who nevertheless lived in this area.

This is a space rich in art in the mountains of Gallura.
