Monti is located on Gallura’s southern border. Situated on the slopes of Mount Limbara and enclosed by the mountains of Alà, Monti is surrounded by vast cork oak forests and vineyards, where the renowned Vermentino wine is produced. During the cataloguing of ecclesiastic cultural assets promoted by the Italian Episcopal Conference (CEI, Conferenza Episcopale Italiana), a chalice was found in Monti: it is the most ancient of Sardinia, dating back to the Middle Ages. From this town, you can easily reach the plateau with its typical landscape of low bushes and huge granitic rocks eroded by the wind.
