San Teodoro lagoon, acquired by the municipality of San Teodoro, is an extremely relevant natural ecosystem due to the diversity of its flora and fauna. A must-see for birdwatching lovers, this destination offers visitors the opportunity to observe swamp and marine species, including flamingos. These, also called genti arrubia (‘red people’) in Sardinian, belong to one of the oldest ornithological families and are currently classified as an endangered species. You can explore the area by way of special paths flanked by wooden fences or by taking part in a horse tour, which offers an engaging and unconventional experience for children, too. Furthermore, on the last Sunday of September, the lagoon of San Teodoro hosts the so-called Festa della Laguna, a festival providing an excellent chance to taste local products and listen to good music.
