TOWER OF LONGOSARDO

Among the most majestic towers built in Sardinia during the Spanish era, the tower of Longonsardo played a significant role in the defence against pirate raids and trade control. The shape of this 11-metre-high granite building is that of a truncated cone at the base, while the upper section is cylindrical. The access is located at 6 metres from the ground and leads to a bomb shelter, the so-called pillbox. The tower of Longonsardo stands on a promontory overlooking the Strait of Bonifacio and offers an awesome panoramic view that extends until Corsica.

Located between the bays of Santa Reparata and Porto Longone, it is also known as the tower of Santa Teresa.
