The island of Caprera is part of the archipelago of La Maddalena and hosts the Compendio Garibaldino<\/strong>, the national museum comprised of the buildings erected from 1849 onwards on Giuseppe Garibaldi\u2019s orders. For instance, the so-called \u2018Casa Bianca\u2019 (\u2018White House\u2019) \u2013 made of granite \u2013 was built by Garibaldi to welcome his whole family. From the central yard, overlooked by the dwelling buildings, a narrow path leads to a small family graveyard. In 1867, Garibaldi planted a stone pine in the inner garden to celebrate the birth of his daughter, Clelia: today, the so-called \u2018Clelia\u2019s pine<\/em>\u2019 is a monumental tree.<\/p>\n
