The church, built outside the old town walls, was located in the suburbs until the expansion phase of the urban centre. The building \u2013 characterised by a Pisan style with Lombard influences \u2013 dates back to the second half of the 11th century and is almost entirely made of granite. The celebration of St. Simplicius takes place on 15th May and is a public holiday in this town.
\nUnder the cathedral of San Simplicio lies a necropolis, which bears witness to the spread of Christianity throughout the island. Tombs, grave goods, and wall ruins spanning 1,700 years: a wonderful must-see attraction!<\/p>\n
