The fortress is located on the namesake hill, which is part of the southern Limbara mountainous system. The Monte Acuto<\/a> hill served defensive purposes over the centuries: due to its position, it was perfect to sight enemies and control
\nthe plain below. In addition to the ruins of the Medieval castle, the remains of many older settlements \u2013 dating back up to the Nuragic and Prenuragic eras \u2013 can be found among the undergrowth.<\/p>\n
