The forest complex was purchased by the State in 1901.
\nThe local vegetation is pretty heterogenous, even though it is mainly comprised of conifer woods, Mediterranean scrub, and broadleaved trees. Man-made areas account for 14% of the complex territory.
\nLake Sos Canales is part of Sardinia\u2019s wetlands, namely lakes, ponds, salt pans, etc. This body of water, entirely surrounded by woods, is a relevant landscape unit and natural area, where water and wood species live together.<\/p>\n
