This town is surrounded by amazing nature and is renowned for its long-standing traditions, excellent wines, a dolmen, and a prehistoric tree. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>[vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n

The area has been populated since the prehistoric period. Four dolmens from the Prenuragic era were found in the immediate surroundings of the residential area: they date back to the period between 3500 and 2700 B.C. The foundations of the local economy lie in farming and craftsmanship, with a focus on cork and granite manufacturing and Vermentino and Nebbiolo production. The area of Luras is home to thousand-year-old wild olives on the shores of Lake Liscia: this natural wonder is skirted by the Trenino Verde railway line, which also stops in Luras.<\/p>\n

During a weekend in June, the \u2018Domos Abbeltas\u2019 festival is held in town: several homes and winemakers open their doors to tourists, each of them offering a different typical dish or handmade product. Other summer events are the seadas festival and the Luras-style soup festival. During the Christmas season, we recommend visiting the nativity scene set up every year in the church of San Pietro, featuring religious figures wearing traditional garments. A tour aboard the Trenino Verde provides the ideal solution to explore Gallura\u2019s hinterland.<\/p>\n
