Situated at the base of Mount Limbara, which is the \u2018green lung\u2019 of Gallura, Tempio Pausania is known as the \u2018city of stone\u2019 for the relevant presence of granite.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>[vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n

Tempio Pausania \u2013 which, together with Olbia, is the administrative centre of the province of OlbiaTempio \u2013 is well-known for its old town, featuring many important historical buildings. It has always been a reference point for Gallura\u2019s hinterland from an economic and cultural standpoint; it also hosts the episcopal seat, a courthouse, and schools up to the secondary level.
\nIts carnival, known as \u2018lu carrasciali timpiesu<\/em>\u2019, is the quintessential allegorical carnival and attracts 100,000 people every year.
\nThe town is renowned for granite and cork manufacturing and its wines, mainly Moscato, Vermentino, and Karana.
\nIt is also an ideal starting point for excursions at the discovery of Mount Limbara<\/a>, which offers an extremely diversified landscape embracing the countryside, vineyards, woods, and the sea. Over time, its granitic rocks have been shaped by erosion into unusual and peculiar forms. One of the possible paths is the one leading to the Punta Balistreri<\/a> peak, named after a fugitive who successfully hid there.<\/p>\n
