Molara is an island in northeastern Sardinia and, together with Tavolara Island<\/a>, it makes up the marine protected area of Tavolara-Punta Coda Cavallo<\/a>.
\nIts name, of Medieval origins, is probably due to the round and uniform shape of the island, which resembles a grindstone (\u2018mola\u2019 in Italian). The extremely lush vegetation covering Molara is comprised of Mediterranean scrub, wild olives, lentisks, and rock roses.<\/p>\n
