L\u2019\u00e9difice date de la seconde moiti\u00e9 du XIe si\u00e8cle et est presque enti\u00e8rement construit en granit dans un style pisan aux influences lombardes. La f\u00eate du saint, qui a lieu le 15 mai, est une f\u00eate populaire.<br \/>\nSous la basilique de San Simplicio se trouve une n\u00e9cropole, t\u00e9moignage de la diffusion du christianisme sur l\u2019\u00eele.
