Gallura is rich in scenic roads which offer a chance to savour the utmost beauty of the whole Sardinian region. Driving along Settentrionale Sarda (SS 127) from Olbia to Tempio, you can explore Gallura’s hinterland toward Mount Limbara, including the area of Calangianus, well-known for Vermentino and cork manufacturing. After this first upward segment, the second tract is surrounded by hills and slopes gently toward Tempio Pausania. The old Orientale Sarda (SS 125) is the oldest road in eastern Sardinia: from Cagliari to Palau, this road rich in thrilling curves passes by some of the most appealing beaches of the region. The coastal road from Palau to Cannigione, too, offers extraordinary sceneries: you should definitely not miss the so-called Piscine di Cannigione, with white sand and crystal-clear water. This fascinating beach, surrounded by nature, can be reached by way of a short path and is also suitable for families.
