TEMPLE PAUSANIA AND MOUNT LIMBARA

Tempio Pausania – which, together with Olbia, is the administrative centre of the region of Olbia Tempio – is well-known for its carnival, granite and cork manufacturing and carving, and its wines, mainly Moscato, Vermentino, and Karana. It is also an ideal starting point for excursions at the discovery of Monte Limbara (‘Mount Limbara’), which offers an extremely diversified landscape embracing the countryside, vineyards, woods, and the sea. Over time, its granitic rocks have been shaped by erosion into unusual and peculiar forms. One of the possible paths is the one leading to the Punta Balistreri peak, named after a fugitive who successfully hid there.

Situated at the base of Mount Limbara, which is the ‘green lung’ of Gallura, Tempio Pausania is known as the ‘city of stone’ for its traditional granite carving and processing.
